Followers of fashion have witnessed some pretty outrageous looks emerge this year but a couple of the largest stories making it towards the high-street are distressed jeans and thigh boots (not really together!).
These things usually are not for your faint-hearted, but if there is a confidence to give them a go here is a breakdown of both looks and the ways to make them do the job.
Distressed jeans
Love or loathe them, distressed jeans continue to be big news. After Balmain’s sellout spring/summer collection took the fashion world by storm the look definitely seems to be keeping us for about another season. Stars sporting this trend include Kate Moss, Victoria Beckham, Rachel Bilson, SJP, Ashley Olsen and Kate Bosworth. There are several ways to use them if you possess the confidence, out of your tender are a few tips from your Models Direct office:
Do:
o Maintain your fit skinny and low rise
o Pair your faded jeans having a vintage rock chick vest/t-shirt
o Add a leather biker jacket, military jacket, or polish the appearance which has a crisp cut blazer
o Dress up your look and make it dancefloor-appropriate with ankle boots, studded/embellished high heels or strappy platforms
o Bunch they up at the ankle or roll the hem to exhibit off your footwear
o Accessorise with studded or spiked jewellery
Don’t:
o Be worried of straps, skulls, ruffles and studs… the greater the higher!
o Pair with florals or fussy prints
o Pair with feminine blouses
Over-the-knee boots
Thigh boots have returned for the bold! After featuring heavily on the catwalk this year, thigh boots are hailed since the ultimate autumn/winter 2009 ‘must have’ for the brave fashionista.
These risque boots include a degree of implied eroticism attached so you have to put some thought into how you use them. Here are some ideas that may help:
o Steer clear of patent and select natural-looking materials like suede or genuine leather.
o Choose muted shades of grey, brown and even cream.
o You don’t have to wear this look with a stiletto heel – try some flats or choose wedges.
o Match your tights for your boots or tuck in skinny jeans or leggings that complement along with for any leggier ‘look’.
o Reduce your outfit.
To realize an identical look, wear the tallest boots you already own, with over-the-knee socks layered over dark tights.
If you are really brave they even make both looks together, as seen recently on Ciara and Kate Hudson.
